Rowan is at stud to approved bitches, preferably with certification from the BVA/KC schemes for low hip scores, clear eyes and cardiac clear.
He holds Certificates for hips 5:2(7) (breed average is around 10); a Clear Eye Certificate and a Cardiac Clear Certificate. He comes from many generations of dogs, on both sides, with certificates for hips, and many also for eyes and cardiac.
Rowan is a big, strong dog with good bone, angulation, topline and lovely sound, free movement with true reach and drive. He is very intelligent and learns everything straight away and forever. He has excellent scenting powers, both air-scenting and tracking and these, combined with his speed and hunting drive and all-day stamina make him a force to be reckoned with!
He also loves hunting in marshes and swimming… he grew up in West Cornwall and loved racing around on the surf beaches. His temperament is calm and pleasant and he does not fight. His puppies have gone to rough shooting, falconry, obedience/agility and “country companion” homes.
Although not shown very much at all, Rowan has a BOB from Ilfracombe Open Show, lots of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show awards from Companion Dog Shows in Devon and Somerset.
He has been graded Excellent under FCI rules in Ireland and “Very Good” at the Championship Show of the Club Francais du Braque Allemand 2009. He has also won a “big money stakes” from an entry of 54 dogs at Exeter in 2009! The judge, Heather Lenski, commented “perhaps a little on the large side, but what a well balanced, soundly constructed dog who moved with drive and comanded the ring. He looked as if he could work all day.”
Although he is solid black, he “carries” liver and ticking. This means that when bred to liver and white bitches, the pups may be solid black, solid liver, black and white and liver and white (as in his recent litter ex Withamfriary Adebel). Bred to a solid black bitch (homozygous for solid), but carrying liver, the puppies were solid black and solid liver. Bred to a black and white bitch, carrying liver, again all four markings would be possible. Rowan is 26” high (no more/no less!) and weighs around 72 lbs in fit, hard condition.

Also at stud is his liver and white litter brother, Wildbach Silver Partridge, who has perfect 0:0 hips and can be contacted via www.karlivar.co.uk…
